You'll have to take a second glance at the 2012 Honda Civic Si before you realize it's not the current car. Look hard and you'll see the redesigned front fascia and the more sculpted rocker panels. The rear fender flares are a little more prominent, too; the wheels are slightly redesigned; and the interior has been refreshed.
Yes, the styling is more evolutionary than revolutionary, but that's irrelevant when you consider the new car produces a full 200 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque (a 22-percent gain!) from its new 2.4-liter inline-four. We've always loved the Civic Si's punchy acceleration and we're expecting more of it in the newest version. An increase of 2 mpg on the highway to 31 mpg is nothing to sneeze at, either.

Our Take: "Replacing the 197-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 139 pound-feet of torque is a 2.4-liter unit with 200 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. As with all 2012 Civics, the styling on the new model is very similar to the outgoing car, but there are changes. A more aggressive lower grille appears on the new Si, as well as more aggressive sculpting on the side panels."
