VA, USA -The Charleston Gazzette, by Zac Taylor -March 31, 2011: -- A national transportation official pulled up to the front steps of the West Virginia Capitol in a tractor-trailer Thursday to raise awareness about hundreds of thousands of women in the trucking industry... Deb Hersman, chairwoman of the National Transportation Safety Board, the independent U.S. government agency responsible for investigating civil transportation catastrophes, stopped in Charleston on the way to the Mid-America Truck Show in Louisville Ky. There, she'll speak about issues that bar female truckers from entering the industry... Hersman was getting to the event in tractor-trailers driven by truckers from five companies: UPS, Schneider, Con-way, US Xpress and Wal-Mart. Most of the drivers she rode with were women...
