2011 HSV SV Black Edition Review,Specifications and Official Revealed Photos

Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) has unveiled the special edition "SV Black Edition" based on either ClubSport R8, ClubSport Tourer R8, or Maloo R8 models at the Melbourne Auto Show. This special edition will be offered in both manual and automatic transmissions and will go on sale in September.

The "SV Black Edition" will be offered with matte black detailing, a Vector hood scoop and fender gills, HSV’s bi-modal exhaust system, and 20-inch forged alloy wheels. For the interior, the Black Edition models will add a unique dash treatment, leather seats, and a leather-bound steering wheel, on top of the already generous E3 equipment list. A special Enhanced Driver Interface (EDI) system that will offer details on power, torque, manifold pressure, fuel, elevation, voltage, oil and air temperature will also be available.

The standard equipment list includes a reversing camera, park assist, and satellite navigation. There will only be 225 units built and, despite the "Black Edition" name, this special edition will be offered in Sting Red, Heron White, Alto Grey, Nitrate Silver, and Phantom (black).

Exterior and Interior

The Holden Clubsport R8 SV Black Edition has been dressed to impressed, even for its lofty standards. Befitting its designation as a ’Black Edition’, the Australian muscle car features exterior details that include "Vector hood scoops, new side vents, matte black trims on both the front and side of the car, a new lip spoiler, and a set of gloss black 20" forged SV Performance alloy wheels. The car also comes with a choice of five color finishes, including Phantom Black, Alto Grey, Nitrate, Heron, and Sting. We’re not exactly sure what part of the color wheel features ’Heron’ and ’Sting’, but we’re not going to begin questioning these guys.

Over at the interior, the additions feature a new Onyx leather trim, a new console and instrument panel finish, a new steering wheel, and special edition sill plates.

Performance

Unfortunately, Holden Special Vehicles didn’t perform any engine upgrades on the Clubsport R8 SV Black Edition, instead ’settling’ for the existing 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine that produces 425 horsepower. Despite the lack of bump in the performance department, 425 ponies is still might impressive for an Australian muscle.

Pricing

The Clubsport R8 SV Black Edition is limited to just 100 units with each one costing around AUD$67,990, which is around $73,000 based on current exchange rates.

Competition

On the same day Holden Special Vehicles introduced the R8 SV Black Edition at the Australian International Motor Show, its main rival in the Australian market also introduced their very first concept car, the Ford Falcon GTV Concept.

Ford’s new Australian muscle car concept is powered by a 5.0-liter Boss V8 engine that produces 449 horsepower and 423 lb/ft of torque. These numbers are more impressive than the Clubsport R8 SV Black Edition, but there’s one advantage the Holden muscle car has over its Ford rival: unlike the latter, the former is ready to go on sale, albeit on a limited basis.

Fiz uma projeção de como pode ser a nova Chevrolet El Camino. Você já soube que a Chevrolet tem planos de criar a El Camino para o mercado americano. Usei como base, a Holden Ute, quase um Omega pick-up.
Adicionei a nova identidade frontal Chevrolet à picape e, na traseira, coloquei uma lanterna baseada no Agile. Coloquei logotipos Chevrolet e etc. Espero que tenham gostado. Comentem!

Guerra dos Clones: É Vectra, é Astra...

Vectra Sedan, também da GM, mas não é Astra.

Depois do Logan continental, a confusão de hoje é da Chevrolet, também da Opel, também da Vauxhall e também da Holden. O Vectra é comercializado pela Chevrolet desde 1993. Já passou por várias reestilizações e hoje já está na 3ª geração. O da Opel, desde 1988 e parou em 2008, na 3ª geração, quando foi substituído pelo Opel Insignia. O mesmo aconteceu com os Holden e Vauxhall Vectra. Mas o nosso atual Vectra, não é chamado de Vectra pelas outras marcas, e sim de Astra.

O Astra da Vauxhall circula desde 2004.

Já o sedan saiu de linha em 2009.

No caso de Vauxhall, Holden e Opel, o nosso atual Vectra é conhecido como Astra. O nosso Astra está atrasado, e certamente vai ser substituído pelo Cobalt. O vectra, parece que vai sair de linha aqui também, com a chegada do Cruze. O Cruze vem nas carrocerias hatch e sedã, e caberá direitinho no lugar da família Vectra.

Quem diria, Vectra, digo, Astra em versão perua.

Existe também o Astra Caravan. A versão perua, apesar de bonita, representava 0,7 % das vendas da Opel na Alemanha. Existe também a Astra Caravan inglesa, no caso da Vauxhall. Na foto abaixo, você vê a falecida família Vectra alemã.

Chevrolet pode ressuscitar El Camino nos EUA

A nova El Camino usará a plataforma da australiana Holden Ute (uma espécie de Omega picape).

A Chevrolet estaria pensando em ressuscitar a velha El Camino, uma picape baseada na plataforma do Chevelle nas décadas de 70.

O modelo escolhido para reviver a El Camino será a Holden Ute, picape que é sucesso de vendas na Austrália, projetada com base no Holden Commodore (o nosso Omega). A ideia seria vista com bons olhos pelo vice-presidente da GM nos EUA, Mark Reuss. “Morei na Austrália e, lá, eles usam este tipo de carro de várias maneiras. Eles não precisam de uma picape grande”, declarou Reuss.
Caso realmente seja vendida nos EUA, a Holden poderia estrear em 2013 ou 2014, quando já terá uma nova geração nas terra do canguru.

A El Camino foi uma picape de grande sucesso nos EUA.

A El Camino foi uma picape de pequeno porte produzido pela Chevrolet na base do Chevelle, de 1959-1960, e pela base do Malibu, de 1964-1987. Ela foi um sucesso de vendas nos EUA, e concorria com a Ford F-Series como as picapes mais vendidas dos EUA. Em 2003, a Chevrolet tentou fazer uma picape também com estilo ousado e, tentar vender muito como a El Camino. O nome da picape era SSR que, pelo fracasso saiu de linha em 2006.

Essa é a SSR, uma picape com a capota da cabine conversível, que ficou em linha de 2003 a 2006.
